Meeting called to order by Lorrayne at 4:10

Reviewed minutes from December meeting and approved with the following change:

Minutes to reflect the RLA will not be charging late fees as of January 1, 2024

Discussion regarding individuals interested in joining the RLA board

ARPA funds were discussed for special projects, ie, renovation of bathroom

The budget for 2024 was reviewed and approved, including increasing hourly rate for employees

Personnel manual will be worked on over the next few months and will be voted on at a future meeting

Mary Jean would like to schedule program with the Utica Zoo during summer reading program, she will apply for a grant to fund it.

Mary Jean will ask Mercedes Gonzalez to host a fundraiser at her Airbnb in March

The history room may have contents transferred to the new Roxbury Town Hall

Treasurer’s Report was presented by Renate

Payroll dates need to be figured out with new accounting firm-there has been some confusion as to when pay dates are

Motion approved to increase hourly wages of the Library Director and the two clerks as indicated in the Executive Minutes.

Mary Jean will reach out the Steve Bachman, 4CLS director, to set up a meeting with board members.

Threads of Time Vintage Sale has begun!

The Threads of Time Vintage Sale is up and running!  Our volunteers have been working double-time sorting and arranging to launch this event.  Table linens, sweet doilies, pillows, silk scarves - and check out that adorable toaster cozy!  Just in time for Mother’s Day shopping but purchasing gifts for yourself is highly encouraged.  Don’t forget:  you’re helping keep the library doors open with your purchases!

New Group to Meet in the Roxbury Library April 17

Our monthly Breast Cancer Survivor’s Support Group has decided to change their focus to include ALL Cancer Survivors. The group will hold their first inclusive meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at 5:00pm. Please come for support and good conversation.

Ellen Stewart will be leading this meeting each month - please check this website, our Facebook page, or call the library at 607-326-7901 for more information.

Roxbury Central Celebrates FLOB at the Roxbury Library

All children grades K-6 are welcome to attend the FLOB (For the Love of Books) event at the Roxbury Library on Saturday, March 23 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  Games, puzzles, snacks, and a few hidden Easter eggs!  Stop in to see us!

Special Visitors from Roxbury Central

We were so happy this week to have visitors from Roxbury Central School.  Visiting our library was part of their For the Love of Books Month (FLOB), and sharing stories with grades Kindergarten, 1, 2, and 4 was an absolute pleasure.  Many of the children took out their very first library cards!  Below are photos of Kindergarten and grades 1 and 2:  grade 4 photo will be available next week.  Many thanks to RCS librarian Margaret Tucker and the classroom teachers and staff for making this possible!

Wednesday, March 20:  Breast Cancer Survivor’s Support Group, 5:00pm.  All are welcome to attend for conversation and compassion.

Thursday, March 21: Toddler Time!  Story and a snack - 11:00am

Friday, March 29:  Write Through the Amherst Method with Sharon Israel of Writers in the Mountains. 3:00pm - 5:00pm.  Session fee $12.00.  For more information and to register go to www.writersinthemountains.org.  This group will meet the last Friday of EVERY month!

Monday, April 8:  Garden Supplies Sale begins:  You’ll find lots of seed starter rays, pots, planters, and all kinds of supplies at the Library.  Stop in during regular hours and get your gardens planned!

Tuesday, April 23:  Annual Meeting of the Roxbury Library Association Board of Trustees, 4:00pm.  All members of the Association may attend.  New Board members will be welcomed.

Monday, April 29:  Threads of Time Vintage Linens Sale begins. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of women’s handiwork, lovingly crafted by skilled hands of women throughout history.  Explore a curated collection of exquisite handiwork from intricately embroidered linens to beautifully stitched quilts.  This not-to-be-missed sale will be held during regular library hours.  Mother’s Day gift shopping??
