About Us

New Books for June!

We have a number of patrons (as well as a certain staff person) who enjoy British mysteries.  If you’re a fan of “Vera’ or “Shetland,” run, don’t walk, to the Roxbury Library.

Welcome, Kindergarteners!

We were so happy to welcome the Roxbury Central School Class of 2035 to the Library today!  We read a story, toured the library, and answered all kinds of questions.  We hope to see them back again soon!

Our First Plant Sale!

Our first Plant Sale on May 27 was a huge success! Special thanks to Elizabeth Frugina who coordinated all of her green-thumbed friends, to the Roxbury United Methodist Church for the tables, to John Zummo and Ed Scudder who did the heavy lifting, to Renate Rennie who helped our customers all day, and especially to our faithful patrons, Board members, and friends who walk-the-walk by supporting us in all of our endeavors.
Next up: our Silent Auction on Saturday, July 1! Call us for more information 607-326-7901. This is our biggest fund raiser of the year, and we need your help to keep our doors open to all.

We’re on Facebook and Instagram!

Check out our Facebook pages and Instagram feed!  We’ve updated all the pages and hope that you’ll enjoy browsing through the information.  Please let us know of anything you’d like included - we’re striving to be a place of community resources.  And, of course, a place to find great books to read.

About the Roxbury Library

Currently serving a population of 2,509, the Roxbury Library is a source of lifetime learning and a valued community center for Roxbury and neighboring communities, including Grand Gorge, Halcottsville, and Denver. A not-for-profit library organization, the Roxbury Library Association, Roxbury Library’s parent
institution, offers library patrons the opportunity to borrow from an extensive collection of books, periodicals, videocassettes, and audiotapes. The newly renovated, redesigned, and archivally reorganized Irma Mae Griffin History Room provides library patrons and visitors with the opportunity to conduct historical or genealogical research and to view the historic local newspaper THE ROXBURY TIMES on microfilm, with printer capacity. In addition to hosting annual programs and events for children and adults, the library makes a copy machine, a fax machine, a laser printer, four computer stations, and a Thrift Shoppe available to the public.

The dedication and the expertise of the Roxbury Library Quilters, who meet at the library every Monday morning to handcraft an annual queen-sized quilt for library fundraising, enable the Roxbury Library Association to offer library patrons and visitors the opportunity to participate in a yearly quilt raffle, held after the library’s Annual Holiday Bazaar on the first Saturday of December.

Sustained by LLSA, local, and state funding and by individual grants from local and state organizations and foundations, the Roxbury Library Association primarily derives its income from annual fundraising efforts, including book sales; Thrift Shppe sales,; fees for use of the library’s copier, fax machine, and laser printer; and sales of the softcover version of Irma Mae Griffin’s HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF ROXBURY.
