Annual Appeal

Dear Friends of the Library,

The Roxbury Library Association Board of Trustees and Staff would like to thank all library patrons and visitors for generous contributions to the Roxbury Library, both past and present.

We are now cordially asking that you continue to support the library. As you may know, the library is an association.  We are not fully funded by the town of Roxbury or the state of New York.  The town of Roxbury provides the library with $17,500.00 annually.  Last year, New York State disbursed $1,631.00 to the library through the Four County Library System.

New York now requires libraries to be fully automated in order to belong to a library system.  Both automation technology and its ongoing maintenance currently cost our library $4,630.00 yearly, and that cost will increase by 3% each year for the next three years. The yearly rate increase is capped at 10%.  Being part of the Four County Library System allows our patrons to access many more resources than what the Roxbury Library could otherwise provide as an independent entity.

Your annual payment of the association membership fee and your contributions to the library’s operating expenses ensure that the library’s doors will stay open and that the library will continue to provide these vital services to our community:

- Fiction & Nonfiction Books
- eBooks
- DVDs and ACDs
- Newspapers & Magazines
- Notary Public
- Research Opportunities
- Photocopier, Laser Printer, & Fax
- High-Speed Internet
- Irma Mae Griffin History Room
- Interlibrary Loans
- Free Wi-Fi
- Special Programs for Adults & Children
- Thrift Shoppe

Our annual appeal letter will be mailed in June.  If you do not receive the letter and would like to join the association and/or contribute to the library’s operating expenses, please print out the form below and mail to Roxbury Library Association, P.O. Box 186, Roxbury, NY 12474.

The Roxbury Library will close for the remainder of 2021 (12/15/2021 - 12/31/2021) due to health risks posed by the surge of COVID  cases within Delaware County, as reported by the Delaware County Department of Public Health, along with recently released state-mandated COVID precautions against newly emergent COVID variants. The Roxbury Library Association is currently suspending all library services, including interlibrary loan requests and curbside pickups, until further notice.

Please do not leave voicemail messages for library staff, for the library will remain vacant through the end of the year.
