Please Consider Advocating for the Library….

Please consider advocating for the library…

Roxbury Library Association’s Board of Trustee Treasurer, Renate Rennie, attended the August 14th Roxbury town board meeting.  She discussed the library’s income and expenses and the need for increased funding from the town to ensure the library’s ability to continue its vital role in serving the public.

Renate also discussed the library’s intention to become ADA compliant and the efforts the library has undertaken to acquire funding through grant applications.

At present, the town’s annual donation to the library is $17,500; we requested the Town Board to increase the amount to $30,000 for the 2024 Town Budget and going forward.

As you may know, the Town of Roxbury is in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is a crucial road map that will guide future decisions in the Town of Roxbury. It is not a law; it is a plan that has legal standing when adopted by the Town Board.

The library would like to encourage residents to fill out the comprehensive plan (https://www.roxburyny.com/comprehensive-plan) form.

We respectfully ask you to consider including a line advocating for the town to continue financial support of the library at the level of $30,000 per year.

Thank you for your consideration.
