Please consider advocating for the library…

Roxbury Library Association’s Board of Trustee Treasurer, Renate Rennie, attended the August 14^th Roxbury town board meeting.  She discussed the library’s income and expenses and the need for increased funding from the town to ensure the library’s ability to continue its vital role in serving the public.

Renate also discussed the library’s intention to become ADA compliant and the efforts the library has undertaken to acquire funding through grant applications.

At present, the town’s annual donation to the library is $17,500; we requested the Town Board to increase the amount to $30,000 for the 2024 Town Budget and going forward.

As you may know, the Town of Roxbury is in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is a crucial road map that will guide future decisions in the Town of Roxbury. It is not a law; it is a plan that has legal standing when adopted by the Town Board.

The library would like to encourage residents to fill out the comprehensive plan (https://www.roxburyny.com/comprehensive-plan) form.

We respectfully ask you to consider including a line advocating for the town to continue financial support of the library at the level of $30,000 per year.

Did you know we have a Non-Fiction Reading Group?  The group is led by Ellen Stewart, and they meet on the last Thursday of each month, with some exceptions.

Terrific fiction:  “Somebody’s Fool,” “Happy Place,” “Old God’s Time”, “Good Night, Irene,” “Yellowface.”

DVDs include “Freaks and Geeks,” “Dectectorists”, and “Your Honor” TV series.

We’re open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 8:30am - 3:30pm; Saturdays 10am - 2:00pm.
